About Me:
I am a young creative entrepreneur, community builder, and co-founder of Buhlebemvelo Arts & Craft, a youth-driven initiative established in 2017. Founded by a collective of four creatives, the space was named after one of its co-founders, Buhle Calvin Hlatshwayo — the designer behind the Build it logo and a Sasol New Signatures winner.
What began as a mission to give back through clothing donations grew into a registered NPO dedicated to empowering young people through art education and creative development. Through consistent community impact, Buhlebemvelo Arts & Craft became a nurturing ground for emerging talent.
In 2024, this journey evolved into the launch of Loxion Movement — a creative studio and fashion brand where art meets culture. Using original artwork from their studio, the brand transforms township creativity into wearable expression. Based in Thokoza 1426, East Rand (Alberton), Loxion Movement stands as a hub for artists, designers, and youth innovation.
Mpho Maphalala is also one of the organizers of the Basha Uhuru Freedom Festival 2026 and a co-founder of the Thokoza Job Creation Indaba, where he represents creatives and the youth of Ekurhuleni. He continues to lead with purpose, building platforms that merge art, fashion, and community impact.
